Christmas Simmer Pot Recipe

Warm, cozy, and spicy, this Christmas Simmer Pot is the best way to make your home smell like Christmas! Whether you're putting up the tree or throwing a Christmas party, a simmer pot is the best, natural way to scent your whole home.

Ingredients

  • 1 Orange sliced or quartered
  • 1 cup Cranberries fresh or frozen
  • 2 Cinnamon sticks
  • 3 Star anise
  • 1 teaspoon Whole cloves
  • 2 sprigs Fresh rosemary
  • 1 inch of Fresh ginger sliced
  • 1-2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 1 liter Water apple juice, orange juice, or cranberry juice (enough to fill the pot 3/4 full)

  • 1 Apple sliced
  • 1 Grapefruit sliced or quartered
  • Orange or grapefruit peel
  • 10 Cardamom pods
  • 5-10 drops off essential oil I used frankincense, see post above for more ideas
  • Pomegranate juice
  • Apple cider
  • Small pine branches/twigs

Instructions

  • Add water (or juice) to a medium pot or a slow cooker.
    Water being poured into a pot.
  • Slice the orange and add it to the pot along with the rest of the ingredients.

Notes

How to store: You can store this simmer pot in the fridge for up to a week and reuse it 2-4 times. I wait until the pot is completely cool and just place the lid on top before popping it into the fridge. Pro tip: You may want to add essential oils to the simmer pot for a boost of aroma after the first or second time.
