- 12 strawberries washed and completely dried
- 1/2 cup mini marshmallows
- 24 candy eyes
Melt the marshmallows in a small saucepan over medium heat.
Turn off the heat and allow the melted marshmallows to cool slightly until they are cool enough to handle with your fingers.
Pinch some of the melted marshmallow between your index finger and thumb.
Stretch the marshmallow out between your finger and thumb.
Wrap it around the strawberry.
Repeat 2-3 times until the strawberry looks like it's covered in a cobweb.
Place the strawberry on your serving plate and add 2 eyes with your clean (not sticky) hand.
Repeat steps 3-4 for the remaining marshmallows.
- Dry the strawberries: Make sure the strawberries are really dry before adding the marshmallow! Marshmallow does not stick well to water. Handy when making popcorn balls, but not when you want the mallows to stick to strawberries.
- Don’t reheat the marshmallows: I found that they caramelized, turned golden, and didn’t stretch over the strawberries as well the second time. It’s better to melt fewer marshmallows and heat more as you go so they stretch.
- Keep one hand clean: Try your best to stick to one hand for the sticky marshmallows, and keep the other hand clean to pick up the strawberries and add the eyes. It may be easiest to hold the stem of the strawberry for this.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
