  • 2 tablespoons strawberry syrup homemade or store-bought
  • 3/4 cup 175ml milk of choice (plus more to top up as needed)
  • Ice

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar or honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Next, froth the milk if desired, and then pour the milk in with some milk froth. Leave enough space at the top for your coffee.
Pouring milk into a tall glass with ice and strawberry syrup.
  • Pour in 1 or 2 coffee shots.
Pouring espresso over milk and strawberry syrup in a tall glass with ice. Strawberries and a white cloth are on the table.
  • Top with extra milk if desired and garnish with a half-sliced strawberry over the rim of the glass.
  • Stir the latte to combine all of the ingredients, and enjoy!

Homemade Strawberry Syrup (optional)

  • Begin by chopping up the strawberries. They shouldn't be too small, just in quarters or sixths.
  • In a medium saucepan add the strawberries, water, and sugar or honey, and bring them to a boil over medium heat.
Pouring honey into a pot with strawberries and water.
  • Lower the heat and allow it to simmer for 20 minutes.

  • Remove the pot from the heat.
  • Strain the strawberries with a fine mesh sieve over another pot, or use a slotted spoon to scoop out the strawberry fruit pulp. Do not press down on the strawberries. This will turn the syrup cloudy.
Slotted spoon removing strawberries from water.
  • Mix in the vanilla extract and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and allow it to cool completely to room temperature.

Notes

  1. Coffee: One or two espresso shots are ideal for this iced strawberry latte recipe. If you don't have a fancy espresso machine you can make very strong coffee instead by using half of the water you would normally use to make coffee. You can also make French Press Espresso (this is what I did). Although these latter two versions are not true espresso (espresso needs pressure), it's strong enough to get the job done. In a pinch, you can use a teaspoon of instant coffee and 1/2 cup of hot water.
  2. Ice: You can use regular ice cubes, coffee ice cubes, or milk ice cubes.
  3. Sugar-Free Strawberry Syrup: My Sugar-Free Strawberry Syrup works perfectly in this recipe.

Storage instructions

  • Strawberry latte: You can store this delicious drink in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Remove any ice before placing it in the fridge so that it doesn't get watered down.
  • Strawberry Syrup: Store this syrup in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
