- Kids can make them too! This is a simple one to make with kids.
🗝️ Key Ingredients & Substitutions
- Cotton candy: I.e. candy floss if you’re in the UK. Ideally white candy floss, but if you like pink, blue, or yellow ghosts, use whatever color you like. If you’re on a keto diet, try sugar-free cotton candy so you can have a few. Sweet Dough Things is great if you’re in the UK, and try Mitten Gourmet if you’re in the USA.
- Candy eyes: You can buy candy eyes at most large supermarkets, especially around Halloween. As they’re so small, they’re already keto-friendly. If you fancy making your own, try this recipe. You can even use your favorite powdered sugar alternative like erythritol.
🥣 How to make Cotton Candy Floss Ghosts
1. With clean, dry hands, take a pinch of cotton candy. Look at the shape and turn it gently to where you think the head should be.
2. Smooth the edges to form the ghost shape. I just smooth the top of the head and leave the bottom a little ragged.
3. Make all of the ghost shapes before adding the eyes.
4. Add candy eyes by placing a teeny tiny amount of water on the back of the eye and sticking it on the ghost.
5. Serve immediately!
🫙 Storage Instructions
These cotton candy ghosts won’t last long, especially in humid climates. You can try to store them in an airtight container, but in my experience, they cling to any moisture and start to dissolve after about an hour. I do live in a very humid climate so it may work better where you are.
🪄 Recipe Notes & Tips
- Keep everything dry: As much as possible, keep your hands dry, and whatever you’re placing the cotton candy on needs to be bone dry before you make this easy Halloween recipe.
- Make and eat: These ghosts should be made right before serving or they may magically dissolve into thin air (thanks to the moisture in the air)! It’s best to serve these straight away.
🍽️ What Can I Serve With Cotton Candy Ghosts?
I made these adorable cotton candy ghosts for my Halloween Dirt Pudding, as a little graveyard decoration. The dirt pudding itself is delicious. I highly recommend it!
