Make perfect cookies every time in the air fryer! Whether it’s homemade or store-bought, this Air Fryer Cookie Recipe gives the best results with golden brown crispy edges and soft centers. Perfect for making a small batch of homemade cookies!
❤️ Why you will love this recipe
- Easy recipe: All you have to do is air fry the cookie dough (homemade or storebought) and then let the cookies cool. It’s such an easy way to bake cookies.
- Quick way to cook: This method is even quicker than oven baked.
- Best cookies! These are seriously the best chocolate chip cookies! They’re made a little healthier as well with coconut oil, greek yogurt, and you can use xylitol or erythritol instead of sugar too. They have crispy edges and soft centers. My favorite!
- Small batch: Nothing beats a freshly baked cookie! The best part (for me) is that I can bake just a few instead of an entire batch of cookies. A warm cookie every time? Yes, please!
- Homemade or premade: You can use either premade cookie dough or follow my recipe below for coconut oil chocolate chip cookies. They can also either be fresh or frozen!
- Cheap: The air fryer method is much more cost-effective to cook in an air fryer than in a conventional oven. The space needed to heat up is much smaller and therefore uses far less energy.
🗝️ Key Ingredients & Substitutions
You can use homemade or pre-made cookie dough. For the homemade cookie dough recipe you will need:
- Flour: I used gluten-free all-purpose flour for this chocolate chip cookie recipe, however, regular all-purpose flour would be fine as well.
- Sugar or substitute: Cookies are made usually with both brown sugar and white sugar. I’ve swapped the white sugar for xylitol or erythritol a few times and they taste great!
- Coconut oil: Instead of butter I opted for refined coconut oil. The chocolate chip air fryer cookies still taste buttery but have a little bit of a healthier profile.
- Greek yogurt: This adds a little tanginess to the cookies and helps them bind together a little more. Use a dairy-free alternative to make these cookies dairy free!
- Eggs: Just the yolks for a chewier cookie.
- Vanilla: Vanilla extract elevates the sweetness and adds a little warmth. It can be omitted if you don’t have any on hand.
- Baking soda: This gives the cookies just a little lift and adds to that “cookie” flavor. If you skip it, you can really taste that something is off.
- Sea salt: Desserts need a little salt to bring out all of the other flavors.
- Chocolate chips: Feel free to add in extra chocolate chips or some other additions. See below for a few ideas.
- Xanthan gum (optional): If you’re using gluten-free flour and it doesn’t have xanthan gum already in it, add a little to help with the texture. Skip it for regular flour.
🥣 How to Make Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Cookies
Make the chocolate chip cookie dough (optional)
1. Begin by creaming the sugar and coconut oil together in a large bowl. I used a stand mixer at medium speed. The coconut oil should NOT be melted. Room temperature is ideal.
2. Next mix in the greek yogurt, vanilla extract, and egg yolks.
3. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, salt, baking soda, and xanthan gum (if using) together.
4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until it’s fully incorporated. I do this one spoonful at a time in the stand mixer.
5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
6. Cover the container with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes-1 hour.
7. Form the cookie dough into 1.5-inch balls using a regular cookie scoop or rolling it between your hands and then flatten them slightly.
8. Cook them, place them back in the fridge, or freeze them in a freezer bag for later.
Air fryer refrigerated cookie dough
1. You’ll need some kind of baking sheet that fits in your air fryer basket. I use a springform cake pan that fits just perfectly. Place a piece of parchment paper over the circle and close the springform over it, cutting off any excess paper. This works particularly well because the parchment paper stays in place.
2. Place the tray in the basket of the air fryer and preheat the air fryer to 160°C
3. If you’re using premade cookie dough, roll the cookie dough portions into balls between your hands and then flatten them.
4. When the air fryer is hot, place 1-3 cookie dough balls onto the parchment paper.
5. Air fry cookie dough for 8-10 minutes.
6. Allow it to cool before eating. I remove the springform and lift the parchment paper onto a wire rack.
